Volunteer Week

We’re opening up Fellows Farm for hands-on volunteer days: a chance to get stuck in, learn something new and be part of the rhythm of a working organic farm.

There’s always a wide range of jobs to turn your hand to. In the market garden that might mean planting out seedlings, weeding, watering or harvesting. Around the wider farm it could be strimming paths, hedging, organising the events barn, shifting materials, herding sheep or helping prepare for workshops and gatherings.

No experience is needed, just willingness, energy and a love of being outdoors. We’ll guide you through tasks and work alongside you.

Volunteers are welcome to camp on site. Please bring your own tent and bedding. Facilities are simple and in keeping with the farm: compost toilets and a heated rustic outdoor shower. Charging sockets are available in the barn.

In return you’ll spend your days immersed in farm life, meet a brilliant crew of people, and (of course) we’ll feed you well. Much of what you eat will be grown just metres from where you’re standing.

Sourdough Workshop

Join Ben MacKinnon, founder of e5 bakehouse in Hackney, for a one-day sourdough baking masterclass at Fellows Farm, Gosbeck.

The farm, which grows organic bread wheat, also has a micro bakery in the barn with a wood-fired oven. During the day, participants will learn about the art and science of sourdough baking, mix a range of different doughs and bake them off in the oven.

Four different breads will be made during the day, including bagels, ciabatta, a light rye and a classic country loaf. A range of flours will be used, including some from wheat grown in Gosbeck itself.

The breads will use a sourdough starter, which participants will be given take home, along with plenty of knowledge of how to keep one alive.

(Please could anyone with impaired mobility reach out in advance to discuss requirements)

Sourdough Pizza Night

Join us for an evening of wood-fired sourdough pizza, slow conversation, and hands-on bread geekery.

We’ll light the oven, stretch naturally leavened dough, and bake pizzas the way they were meant to be: blistered, smoky, and shared. This is not a formal class, it’s a gathering for curious eaters, home bakers, and anyone who believes fermentation is a kind of magic.

Bring your sourdough starter if you have one. We’ll have the chance to get it looked at by a real baker and bakery owner, Ben Mackinnon of E5 Bakehouse, who can offer guidance, troubleshooting, and honest advice.

Expect:
– Wood-fired sourdough pizza
– Starter diagnostics & fermentation talk
– Dough stretching demos
– Conversations about grain, soil, and slow food
– Good people, good fire, good flour

Come hungry. Leave inspired.

The barn will be set up with long tables, cosy lighting and good music in the background. It’s a chance to sit down, share good food and spend time with others in a rustic, informal setting. Come with friends or come on your own!

Mid summer celebration and Ceilidh dancing

Join us for a joyful Midsummer Scottish Ceilidh Dance at Fellows Farm: a relaxed afternoon of music, dancing, and good company.

This event is especially welcoming for families with children. Before the dancing begins, children can enjoy sensory storytelling and a creative workshop, giving them a chance to explore stories, use their imagination, and make something of their own.

The Scottish Ceilidh Dance will follow, with simple dances that are adapted so everyone — including children — can join in. No experience is needed. All the steps will be explained, and the focus is on having fun together.

Enjoy lively traditional music, meet new people, and dance in the beautiful surroundings of the farm. During the afternoon we will serve freshly baked sourdough pizza from our wood-fired oven, along with seasonal vegetables from our organic market garden.

You are also warmly invited to bring a small dish to share for a communal table.

The dancing will be led by an experienced teacher, and if you enjoy it you can also find out more about the weekly Scottish Country Dance classes.

RSVP: Please let us know if you plan to come by contacting

Janina at janinalileikyte@gmail.com

We look forward to celebrating Midsummer with you!
